ABOUT ME
Allison Pottern Hoch

I have nearly 15 years of experience in marketing, publicity, sales, and event planning. After spending four years doing marketing and publicity for academic titles at The MIT Press, I went to work for Wellesley Books as a children’s bookseller and event coordinator. During my tenure there, I organized, hosted, and promoted over 150 events, ranging in size from intimate workshops, story times, and lunches to multi-media events with over 700 attendees. I worked with veteran authors, celebrities, and debut authors alike.
I have a B.A. in Creative Writing from Carnegie Mellon University where I coordinated the Adamson Visiting Writer's series and interned with Carnegie Mellon University Press. I am also a 2023 graduate of the Viable Paradise Writers Workshop.
I currently host talks, discussiong groups, and workshops at The Writer’s Loft in Hudson, MA, Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance, the MetroWest Writers Guild, and at Grub Street Inc. in Boston. I have been a Teaching Scholar at The Muse & the Marketplace conference for five years. I also write and curate a bi-monthly newsletter, Books, Marketing, & More.
I've coordinated events for renowned authors such as John Green, Rick Riordan, Cassandra Clare, Jodi Picoult, Mo Willems, Lois Lowry, Daniel Handler, Kristi Yamaguchi, Jane Smiley, Jasper Fforde, Laurie Halse Anderson, and Jan Brett as well as cookbook authors/chefs Ming Tsai, Molly Katzen, Joanne Chang, Deb Perelman, and Molly Wizenberg.
When not working with marketing clients, I'm reading science fiction, drinking tea, and writing speculative fiction novels and short stories.
